The project involves producing, recording and sharing for the international French-speaking audience, via the Ukraine Crisis Media Center social network platforms, a series of short (up to 2 minute) videos from de-occupied territories in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as the cities of Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Sumy.
In these videos I tell the stories of wounded cities and destroyed villages, of tortured people and an annexed future for civilians. Some stories, when relevant, will go further in exploring Ukraine’s history or culture; some will show the signs of hope and reconstruction.
Using my experience as a journalist, being fluent in French and travelling regularly to the east and south of the country with volunteer and PEN Ukraine trips, I plan to do at least 12 trips from fall 2023 until fall 2024, which will result in recording no less than 100 videos in the French language.
